Disk defragmenters move the pieces of each file or folders to one location on the volume so that each occupies a single contiguous space on the disk drive.
Defragmenting a drive also increases the drive’s life as the R/W head will require to move less to get to data on a properly defragmented drives. There are following step for disk defragmenter window:
a) Double click my computer icon.
b) Move the mouse pointer over a disk partition name and click the left mouse button. The disk partition names get highlighted.
c) Without De selecting the disk partition name, click the right mouse button. A shortcut menu appears.
d) Insight the shortcut menu moves the mouse pointer over the properties option and clicks the left button.
e) The properties dialog box of the selected hard disk partition appears. Move the mouse pointer over the tool tab and click the left mouse button.
f) Next move the mouse pointer over the defragment now button and click the left mouse button.
g) Disk defragmenter window appears.
Disk defragmenter is split into two main areas. One is upper portion and second is lower portion which displays a graphics representation.
