Header
Header is the text or graphics which are printed at the top of every page in a document. A header is printed in the top margin. It contains information repeated at the top of the page of a document. Word 2007 has the choice a different header on the first page of a document. We can write separate header on even and odd page of the document. We can display page number and additional information on every page in the document by creating header.
Footer
We use footer for giving most important information in bottom of an every page in a document. We can add the text or graphics of every page in bottom of document. Footer is printed in the bottom margin of page. Word 2007 includes built in footer designs in gallery. We can display page numbers and other information on every page in the document by creating footer. We can create footer and format them separately at the bottom of a page. We can use different footer on the first page of a document and we use dissimilar footers on odd and even pages.
Inserting Header/Footer
There are following steps for add header and footer
Click the insert tab, in header and footer group click on header button.
Click the down arrow. A list of header gallery opens.
Scroll through the gallery. We will notice the multiplicity of headers that are available in the gallery. Select the desired style we want.
Word 2007 displays a header & footer tools contextual tab called Design on the ribbon. It dims the text of the document, outlines the header area at the top of the first page and adds the formatting defined for this header to the document.
In the header click the (type the document title) placeholder and then type the title.
On the Design tab, in the Navigation group click the go to footer button. Word 2007 shows the footer area at the bottom of the page.
In the Header and Footer group click the footer button. Click the down arrow. A list of footer gallery opens. We want only the date to show in the footer.
Click the Pick the date placeholder, click the arrow to the right and them in the date navigator click today’s date.
On the design tab in the close group, click the close header and footer button.
Footnotes: Footnotes show at the bottom of the page of document. We can say that we can write a note at bottom of every page of document. We can write specific information at the bottom of the page as like note.
Endnotes: Endnotes show at the bottom of the document. Endnote shows at the end of the document. We can write specific information at the bottom of the document as like note.
The main difference between footnotes and endnotes is the footnotes show at the bottom of the page and endnotes at the end of the document.
Creating footnotes and endnotes:
1. Insert the note reference to mark the location in the document where a footnote or endnote is referred to. The note reference is frequently a number.
2. After word inserts the note reference, type the note entry. The note entry is the text information that appears in the footnote or endnote.
